At age sixteen, Penny McCoy skied on the US National Ski Team, winning a bronze medal at the World Championships in Chile. Penny earned the number one slalom spot, yet due to “politics,” she was dropped from the US Olympic team. This disappointment was followed by Penny’s marriage, which turned into a nineteen-year ordeal of abuse and manipulation, during which she nearly committed suicide. To prove she wasn’t a loser, Penny pushed herself to the limit during the 1990 Ironman in Hawaii, but only managed to place seventh. She was devastated. Then she heard God speak to her: “You have abused yourself this time. You can say ‘no’ to abuse.” Penny realized that she had chosen to put herself in abusive situations, but she could say “no” to abuse in the future.

Have you knowingly or unknowingly allowed yourself to be abused? Jesus can help you be free. If you don’t know Jesus, we encourage you to pray the following:

Lord Jesus, I want to know You personally. Thank You for dying on the cross for my sins. I open the door of my life and receive You as my Savior and Lord. Thank You for forgiving my sins and giving me eternal life. Take control of my life. Make me be the person You want me to be.

Saying this prayer is the first step towards a personal relationship with Jesus. We would love to pray for you and send you further information.
