“Jesus is okay for everybody else, but we have God.” That is what Karen Faith Heller’s family said. Heller, a business woman, grew up in a traditional Jewish family. In fact, several of her relatives had suffered during the Holocaust “in the name of Jesus.”
As an adult, Karen Faith Heller wasn’t too keen on Christianity.
Heller did stray from her roots though, steeping herself in Eastern traditions. The claims of Jesus were the only ones she wouldn’t consider exploring.
Until she met Anne Holland, a close friend, business associate and mentor—a woman unafraid to gently challenge Heller’s disdain for Christianity. Holland invited Heller to an evangelistic event and then a Bible Study. Heller went and was challenged by the people she met and the changed lives she witnessed.
Finally, Karen Heller was forced to confront her own deeply held bias against Christianity. She pledged to change her attitude, and it wasn’t long before she was absorbing the Bible studies she still attended. Heller found herself drawing nearer to Christ.
On a business conference with her good friend Anne, the women attended church and Heller surrendered her life to Jesus. Later in that same trip, Karen Heller, one-time critic of Christianity, was baptized in the hot tub of a local inn.
Heller discovered Messianic Judaism. Finally, she saw how the roots of her childhood faith could blossom into a living faith in Jesus Christ.
Today, everything is different. Jesus is front and center in everything Heller does, including the way she and her partner run their businesses.
“God is our Chairman,” says Heller. “He directs everything we do, and the change has been dramatic.”
